It was miserably hot, and on that Sunday Holly would rather be at home. But she had given herself a task that morning, she had been going through a box of Joseph's things trying not to get too depressed by it, and had unearthed a few broken Dark Detectors. Holly hadn't had the heart to get rid of them, so she had taken the cracked sneakoscope, the malfunctioning foe-glass, and the continually humming secrecy sensor to be repaired at Dervish and Banges'. The clerk, in making conversation, had told her that a lot of people were bringing in things like these, given the times they were in.
But Holly wasn't afraid to leave her home when the others hid, she only wanted to be home to avoid the oppressive heat. Though she had been promised only a brief wait for her items, and Holly figured she might as well amuse herself in the village for a little while. She didn't feel much like shopping, however, and really the only kind she needed to do was of the grocery variety. It had, however, been a long time since she had bought something for herself simply because she wanted or liked it, so she had popped into Gladrag's and gotten a new set of robes.
Instead of her favoured purple, she had gotten a set in soft yellow. Normally Holly might not consider such a colour, but the contrast against her skin had been stunning- one of the seamstress girls had even emitted a gasp when she had left the changing room to examine herself in the mirror. Sighing lightly, Holly sat on the rim of the fountain and slipped off her sandals before turning to immerse her feet and legs up to mid-calf in the cool water. Really, the structure was a godsend. Holly couldn't ever recall it being this hot, Joseph might have laughed at her misery, saying this wasn't anything.
Holly's throat constricted slightly at the thought of him, coming to a sudden realization- eight months to the day. The attack on the school had been eight months ago, and she honestly wasn't sure how much better she was, if she was even close to being at the end of her grieving...
